This Saturday night our ‘Gippsland Physiotherapy Group’ Gippsland United Women travel to Wallan in an Elimination Final.
The last time these two teams played each other was also played in Wallan with the home team getting up by 4 points. We had played a great game in the first half to be leading by 4 points at half time however a 20-12 scoring run in the third term was enough for the home team to hold on.
Things will be a little different this time as our Women have found some great chemistry over the past month, winning four in a row! In the previous match up Gippsland United were missing two key pieces in Carly Wood and Emily Scholtes.
Carly Wood has been terrific over the last month and has been one of the key reasons for the teams success. Carly has averaged 10 points this season however it has been her leadership and basketball IQ that has shone. The defensive presence and rebounding of Emily Scholtes will be important this week to help get the win.
Our twin towers – Chloe Hogg and Makenzie Miller will determine the outcome of the match. Both average double doubles all season and have been incredible all year. Another strong performance by them both will go a long way to securing the victory.
Irrespective of the result we are very proud of the team, however, if I was a betting man I would be putting my money on a 7 point United victory.
