Two away games during the Mental Health Round for the BigV teams over the weekend saw both teams return with a road loss.
Our Women’s team struggled again with turnovers during the game, ending the game with 23. Offensively, the scoring power from the bench failed to materialize with only 8 points which was well below the last game of 25 points. Whether it was the travel or the week off, the team will need to bounce back with a huge game this Saturday night against ladder leaders RMIT. The end result was an 11 point loss 67-56. Makenzie Miller and Chloe Hogg leading the team across all statistical categories.
The Men had an arm wrestle from the first whistle and at the end of regular time scores were level. Overtime proved too much for us to overcome the home court advantage and the dominance of Pakenham big man Joe Davis. Davis finished the game with 36 points.
Ben Barlow led Gippsland United and was rewarded with a Blue Carpet nomination. Ben has continued to step up in the absence of Billy Hughes and his ability to contribute on both ends has been invaluable to the team. Supported by Brandon Armstrong (23 points, 6 assists & 5 steals) and Ben Waller (16 points, 2 steals) it was a fantastic game that is a potential Grand Final match up.
This Week we host a double header:
Saturday 25th June
Women vs RMIT @ 6pm
Men vs Craigieburn @ 8pm
