Both teams travelled away in Round 8!
The Men took the LONG drive to Surf Coast and it was a real tussle in the first half. United finished the half trailing the home team by 2 points.
Coach Scott McKenzie spoke about his half time address “the focus was putting a real emphasis on sticking to our offensive structures, as they (Surf Coast) were doing a great job of disrupting us”. The team obviously responded by outscoring the Surf Coast 25-11 points.
Led by Brandon Armstrong with an outstanding performance that resulted in a BigV Blue Carpet nomination. The men finished the game with a comfortable 26 point win.
Our Women team took the LONGER drive to Wallan and unfortunately couldn’t get the win. With some late omissions due to illness, the women pushed the home team all the way to the buzzer.
Chloe Hogg was again our best performer on the night. The reigning CBL MVP tried to will the team to the win but it wasn’t to be. Young gun Macey McGlead was really important for the team with her defense instrumental. Macey ended the game with 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.
This week the Men play away in Mildura and the Women have the bye.
Our next home game is a double header on Saturday 28th May.
